Art Play

Hey there :) - Here are some photos of new art play. I'm revisiting the idea of water & movement. My senior thesis in college was about fresh water (Click Here to View It!) - and I just can't seem to keep away from the subject.  So today I sat down and created a few sketches, my hope for these sketches is to create a sculptural representation mimicking the movement and flow of the water and ink - Somehow transforming them to be more physical and three dimensional. Enjoy!

Holy Moly - Happy Fall! I have an artsy (and etsy) update for you. After much thought and procrastination I decided to open a shop on Etsy.com :) I have a few items up and there are more on the way. The shop is ArtNerdGetsCrafty and it will contain a combination of items like my handmade books and cards, among many other contemporary fine art pieces, possibly some photography and vintage items. I hope you check it out and pass it along to friends and family!

Most recent additions to the shop:

Two Lovely Additions

Hey there! I have some truly lovely color combinations for your eyes this week. I can't decide which I enjoy more. The warm gold tones and rich purple textured cover compliment the various shades of yellows and purples inside the book. I'm thinking the grouping of books with this cover will be titled something like "Royalty Collection."

The peacock cover presents us with a wonderful palette including golds, greens and blues with hints of brown line work. These colors work beautifully with the multiple shades of card stock ranging from turquoise blue to light purple.  The palette of this book has a much cooler feel, but surely packs a visual punch :). A few quick titles pop into mind when I see these, how about "peacock perfection" or "pretty in peacock"?

As a viewer and potential consumer, what are your thoughts? Any title suggestions or color combinations you would like to see? If there is a special palette you are looking for I would love to create a custom book just for you!

Thanks for stopping by to view my work!

An earnest devotion - the close-ups

Hello! Thanks for visiting my blog on this lovely day :). Thursday is a good day for me, I have the day off so that means catching up on work I've been thinking about all week. Now that the benefit show has come and gone in the blink of an eye, I will be delving back into my fine art & crafts. I took a few days off for some quality R&R, but on Monday It was back to work. This morning I hung my unsold pieces from the show over the dining room table & they look great. I have reconfigured the layout since a few pieces are absent. I am pleasantly surprised by how nicely they hang and visually speak to each other. So here are some photos of the work hung at the show, at home & some individual shots so you can see the details :). Have a great day, thanks for stopping by!

An Art Show For Steven!

What a great success the show turned out to be!  Over 700 attendees for the night, almost every piece sold and a total of nearly $14,000 was raised. Seemed like everyone had a great time lingering around the art, drinking wine (or PBR, whatever your preference) and munching on delicious cupcakes & treats provided by some of the SBS crew :). Another fun addition to the show was our friend Jeremy's Animation Station, where you could be transformed into your own mini stop motion video! So here are some photos from the event :) enjoy!

Lindsey created the sign art for the show :) - Looks fabulous!
