Founders Favorite Announcement

Hey Everyone! Just here to announce my next showcase date with RawArtists. A few weeks ago I received a phone call with the wonderful news that I was chosen as a Founders Favorite along with about 10 or 11 other visual artists / photographers. This show happens to be the Rawards event, so my work will be shown alongside award winning pieces, some of the founders favorites may receive awards that evening as well. The show is on January 19th at the LA Exchange in downtown LA. I would love to see any one of you there! So come out and support your local indie art scene / up and coming artists in the contemporary scene! Purchase your ticket through my RawArtist page :D

Will follow up with some updates on new art / info for the show

Painting Ice

Woah - September! You snuck up on me there...So, I know I have delayed updates on this blog, just bear with me :) I recently moved (down the street) after my plans to move to San Francisco fell through :(. I'm sad and disappointed but I guess that just means it wasn't the right timing. So here I am! Orange County is where I'm meant to be for a while longer and I won't let that hinder my creativity or ambition.

What I'm posting today are a few paintings I've created in the past month. It is the direction I've been searching for, combining my drip / ink techniques with the environmental concepts behind my previous work. I will be creating larger versions of these paintings in the coming months, as soon as I get my hands on a large roll of watercolor paper. I put together some GIFs so you can see the paintings come to life.

There are a few great calls for artists out there at Linus Gallery (where my Obama piece was showcased in the digital gallery) - I will be entering more work in the coming months and I'm hopeful that will lead to being chosen to show in their physical gallery in Pasadena!

Enjoy today's post! Come back soon for more updates :D - Have a wonderful day!

The Return Of Eric H.

As I've mentioned in previous posts, I have a particular client who brings me work I'm always impressed by. He searches high and low for these pieces of art & always stops by The Framing Corner for my assistance in the design. This grouping took a while to design, but I couldn't be happier with the results (and I'm certain Eric is pleased as well).

Graphic Posters Influenced by Disney Films

In the past few months @TheFramingCorner I've had the opportunity to see some visually and conceptually interesting piece come through the door. I'm always excited to be a part of the framing design for such lovely art! This time around I am showcasing a poster series created by Rowan Stocks-Moore. The client was looking for a simple clean design for the art. I presented him with a few options for color and sleek design which compliments the color tones and graphic nature of the art. Take a look at more work by Rowan Stocks-Moore by clicking on his name! Oh, and stop by next week for another update! You will love the next round of art I have to show off!

@TheFramingCorner

Well Hello! This week I have some images of recent frame orders I've designed @TheFramingCorner. Enjoy!

 This First set of paintings was brought in by an interior designer for a client's home in Georgia. We picked a wide silver frame from one of my favored manufacturers (Nurre Caxton) - The moulding looks great on both pieces & they will be hung stacked with the narrow piece on top.

This next set is a grouping of screen prints brought in by a client looking to create a simple, yet sleek design to mimic the graphic art. We chose the same scooped bevel matte black frame for the Black Cat series and another matte black frame with a detailed step into the image area for the larger Rio de Janeiro print. Simple and sweet.

The remaining designs on the post are from a client who has brought in some of my favorite art to date. I am particularly fond of the framing choices on the Jaws screen print and the Drive letterpress art. It is always a wonderful experience to work with a client who enjoys finding just the right texture and color combination to amplify and beautifully compliment the art. I'm also a fan of a client who will give me a good amount of artistic freedom with the framing :). Thanks to Eric for always bringing in excellent artwork! Hope to see you soon!
